Position Summary

This position provides general assistance to the Recreation Program Manager (Youth and Adult Sports) by providing on-site supervision of league games, tournaments, special events, and skills clinics.

This is an ongoing recruitment for youth soccer, baseball/softball, basketball. Currently we are recruiting for soccer and baseball/softball.

  • Soccer - Season is March 18 - May 13 - Hours are generally scheduled Monday - Thursday 4:30PM - 6:15PM and Saturdays 8:00AM - 3:00PM.
  • Baseball/softball - Season is June 3 - July 29 - Hours are generally scheduled Monday - Friday 5:30PM - 8:30PM and Saturdays 9:00AM - 6:00PM.
  • Basketball - Season is November 1 - February 1 - Hours are generally scheduled Monday - Thursday 5:15PM - 8:15PM and Saturdays 8:30 AM -2:15 PM..

Essential Job Functions

  1. On-site supervision of volunteer coaches and spectators. Resolves problems and conflicts that may arise during programs. Supervises facility and participants by enforcing program and facility rules, regulations, and procedures.
  2. Initiates positive, friendly interactions with program participants, coaches, and spectators
  3. Verifies that facilities are safe and ready for use.
  4. Assists with field/facility preparation and routine park maintenance as needed.
  5. Ensures facilities are left in a secure and clean condition. Notifies proper personnel if there is a security or safety issue.
  6. Trains, coaches, and counsels Sports Officials on proper application of rules, positioning, and other aspects of sports officiating.
  7. Assigns Sports Officials on-site, using good judgment with regards to Sports Officials' ability and level of participants.
  8. Officiates program activity if the need arises.
  9. Assists with organizing informational meetings for volunteer coaches and staff.
  10. Assists with monitoring sports equipment inventory.
  11. Performs work in accordance with federal, state, and City employment and safety laws, rules and standards.

Qualifications

Any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify includes a high school diploma, or equivalent, athletic participation at the high school or college level, and/or experience as a certified sports official. Must be 18 years of age or more.
Supplemental Information

Assists in the supervision of Sports Officials. This position works under the immediate supervision of the Recreation Program Manager (Youth and Adult Sports).
