**Buyer I (Mill)**

**MISSION / SUMMARY:**

This position is key to secure goods and/or services for the facility in accordance with purchasing policy and delegated authority. The successful candidate will understand and align business operations and Purchasing as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

**JOB FUNCTIONS:** *Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.*

* Provide prompt and professional purchasing services to internal customers by communicating effectively with the Operating, Engineering, and Maintenance areas

* Promptly handle requisitions to ensure cost effective and timely availability of services and materials, including storeroom replenishment requisitions

* With guidance and support, prepare and publish bid specifications, evaluate responses, and negotiate purchases and contracts

* Review min/max stocking levels, criticality codes of parts and provide recommend changes

* Coordinate return/cancellations purchase orders for MRP

* Maintain SAP info Records, source lists, and data integrity

* Support purchasing manager with managing supplier relationships, including monitoring of payments

* Execute buying strategies and analyze market/industry conditions as required

* Assist with development of supply recommendations

* Support Vendor Management, including vendor registration, insurance coverage, and safety program compliance.

* Ensure the correct vendor is designated for supply needs and quality

* Provide support for storeroom operations as needed

* Support mill operations and maintenance on scheduled weekends

* Other departmental requirements/functions and duties as assigned

**BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:**

* Minimum of three (3) years experience in Purchasing, Material Management or Stores related field

* Industrial/manufacturing experience required

* SAP Business Software Knowledge preferred

**EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:**

* Four year college degree in business, preferred

**SKILLS:**

* Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills

* Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Software, Excel, Word and Outlook

* Leadership skills and ability to function in a fast paced environment

* Independent initiative to achieve department and organization goals

**SCHEDULE DEMANDS:**

* General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

* Occasional overnight travel

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**

* Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8-hours

* Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs

* Reading computer screen or other electronic devices

* Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment
