The Role:

Thornton Tomasetti's Chicago office is looking for a receptionist to be the face of an ambitious office and work with extraordinary engineers who design the world's tallest buildings. You will help run an exciting and orderly office by coordinating office events, volunteer opportunities, help coordinate intern and new hire events and ensure the office runs smoothly. You will succeed if you enjoy helping people, are detail-oriented, and proactive. This is a fully in-office role.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome guests as soon as they arrive at the office.
  • Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls.
  • Maintain reception area, kitchen, breakout areas and conference rooms.
  • Coordinate virtual and in-person interviews between employees and candidates.
  • Work with engineers to coordinate career fairs, conferences, and office events.
  • Update calendars and schedule meetings.
  • Coordinate with building and vendors in the case of maintenance issues.


Requirements:
  • High school degree or at least 2 years' experience in an office or customer service environment.
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.
  • Professional, personable, and proactive attitude.
  • The ability to work and communicate well with a team with solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
