Audubon is currently seeking a Buyer I to join our Team in our Metairie, LA office. The Buyer I will procure equipment and/or bulk materials for assigned projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with the procurement of equipment and/or bulk materials for assigned projects.
  • Ensures project equipment and materials are purchased within budget and in accordance with all project specification and delivery schedule requirements.
  • Typically purchases commodities and services with either less complexity or smaller dollar values.
  • Assignments typically involve individual project phases or projects of limited scope.
  • Reviews requests for assigned materials, parts and/or services and verifies specifications with requester as necessary.
  • Identifies approved supplier and ensures timely preparation and communication of RFQ (Request for Quote) or may correspond with or interview approved suppliers to obtain price, specifications and delivery information.
  • Maintains electronic files in conformance with Standard Execution Procedures (SEPs) and Quality System requirements.
  • Converts requisitions to Purchase Orders (PO's) in conformance with Standard Execution Procedures (SEP's), Department Work Instructions (DWI's), Ethical Code of Conduct and Quality System requirements.
  • Enters PO's into the purchasing system and verifies accuracy of data. Places purchase orders for assigned commodities.
  • Records shipment and delivery details. Investigates and responds to Accounting's invoice questions.
  • Addresses invoice discrepancies with suppliers and reviews final invoices for payment approval.
  • Investigates and responds to Document Control queries concerning Supplier documentation.
  • In the absence of a dedicated Project Expediter, performs all expediting activities to ensure on-time delivery and to report delivery status of all equipment, materials, and supplier documentation for assigned orders.
  • Updates system as necessary. Assists in scheduling supplier meetings and takes meeting minutes.
  • Assists in updating the Corporate Supplier database based on the performance of suppliers.
  • Assists with qualifying new suppliers, ensuring that they meet requirements.
  • Prepares and distributes Procurement reports.


EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED. Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Management, Logistics or related field preferred or equivalent work experience in purchasing and supply chain.
  • Knowledge of procurement methods and requirements.
  • Demonstrates understanding of commercial terms, applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures.
  • Some related experience preferred.
  • Candidate must have good computer skills and knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and/or Access, PowerPoint with ability to download, manipulate and report data and procurement software.
  • Oral and written communication skills with good vocabulary, good grammar, and the ability to compose routine written communications.
  • Ability to pay close attention to details.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
