Metro Water Recovery in Denver, CO - a nationally recognized leader among clean water utilities, provides wastewater conveyance and treatment services for 2.2 million people in the Denver Metro area.
Description
This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon the candidate's qualifications:
Utility Worker I ($24.65 - $33.35 Hourly)
Performs a variety of semi-skilled duties related to the operation and maintenance of Metro's interceptor system and wastewater treatment facilities. Works under the direction of a Transmission Supervisor.
Utility Worker II ($26.62 - $36.03 Hourly)
Performs a variety of semi-skilled duties related to the operation and maintenance of Metro's interceptor system and wastewater treatment facilities. Works under the direction of a Transmission Supervisor.
Utility Worker III ($28.25 - $39.41 Hourly)
Independently performs skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and inspection of the interceptor sewer system and treatments facilities. Works under the direction of a Transmission Supervisor.
Utility Worker IV ($30.51 - $42.56 Hourly)Performs skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and inspection of the interceptor sewer system and wastewater treatment facilities. Exercises independent judgement on work sites when a supervisor is not present. Provides direction and training to Utility Workers and may direct the work of lower classifications. Works under the direction of a Transmissions Supervisor.
Utility Worker V ($32.95 - $45.97 Hourly)
Performs senior-level activities in the operation, maintenance, and inspection of the interceptor sewer system and treatments facilities, which ranges from 8-in. to 90-in. sewer mains over a 750 square mile service area and provides technical support to the Transmission Operations Manager. Works under the direction of a Transmission Operations Manager. Provides direction and training for Utility Workers. Provide functional leadership in the absence of a Transmission Operations Manager.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Operation and maintenance of various types of powered equipment, hand, and power tools
- Safety activities such as vehicle traffic control
Skilled at: - Operating powered equipment, hand, and power tools
Ability to: - Operate powered equipment, hand and power tools
- Check and maintain proper fluid level and lubricate the moving parts and wearing surfaces
- Read procedures, SDS precautions and other similar type documents
- Perform basic arithmetic calculations and use measurement devices.
- Perform line locates
- Complete the transmission training programs
Education Graduation from high school or GED required. Valid Driver's License.
Utility Worker II Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of: - Operation and maintenance of various types of powered equipment, hand and power tools

Skilled at: - Standard Operating Procedures for complex processes

Skilled at: - Monitoring technical systems/equipment and following Standard Operating Procedures for complex processes
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills sufficient to perform equipment inspections and adjustments as well as planned maintenance activities
- Interpersonal communications skills sufficient to interact effectively in a team-based environment
- Operating autonomously supporting high safety standards/practices and strong work ethics.
- Training personnel on collection procedures and equipment
- Operating heavy construction equipment not requiring a CDL

Working ConditionsWork Environment While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; high and low traffic zones, and outdoor weather conditions 2/3 of the time. The employee is exposed to working near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration less than 1/3 of the time. The employee will be working in confined spaces 1/3-2/3 of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of the job the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear more than 2/3 of the time. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; and climb or balance less than 1/3 of the time. The employee must lift and/or move up to 10 more than 2/3 of the time, up to 25 pounds 1/3 to 2/3 of the time, and more than 100 pounds less than 1/3 of the time.
