Position: Assistant Early Learning Director Salary: $52,000

This position is responsible for the assisting the Early Learning Director with the overall operation of the Early Learning program site(s), including licensing, curriculum development and delivery, health and safety of the children.

The fun work of this position includes but not limited to the following:

  • Ensures adequate safety procedures are in place for the class being taught
  • Supervises staff, to include call outs, PTO, daily staff schedule and concerns or issues
  • Ensures that curriculum is designed and implemented
  • Orders supplies
  • Coordinates monthly newsletter
  • Generates snack menu.
  • Ensuring daily, weekly, monthly communication to parents to support the lesson plans and the milestones and development of the children within the program
  • Supervises programs, including operation, maintenance, appearance, and cleanliness
  • Codes incoming bills for payment
  • Organizes and Tracks employee training to enusure staff are in compliance with licenisng regulations and ensuring trainings are suited to improve the quality of our teachers and centers
  • Monitors and organizes classrooms-attendance, sign in & out
  • Assist with Hiring, training, coaching, supervising and evaluating Early Learning staff
  • Appropriately handle development and disciplinary issues with staff as needed, and implement reward and recognition practices
  • Provides training and orientation for new parents, teachers and children including touring families and transitioning children
  • Responsible for maintaining staff files and maintaining staff compliance in CPR/First Aid certifications, including blood borne pathogens, HAZMAT, and other required certifications of the field
  • Attending monthly PAC meetings with Director
  • Partner with parents to effectively address their questions/concerns
  • Assists with classroom observations and technical support
  • Substitutes in classrooms as needed
  • Supports the program goals of the YMCA as a whole and the branch in particular
  • Operates facility and program in Early Learning Director's absence
  • Responsible for creating, developing and maintaing a positive relationship with teachers, parents and other branch staff
  • Stays current with all licensing, state and local regulations and ensures that the site and all of its staff are in compliance at all times
  • Assists Director as needed in preparing the branch or continuing to adhere to NAEYC accreitation
  • Other duties as required
The qualifications for this position are as follows:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Recreation, Human Services. Current CPR and First Aid Certification. Documentation of physical examination and TB skin test. Clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting. Must meet the county/state licensing requirements. Minimum of three years experience working primarily with preschoolers or school age children (depending on program) in a licensed child care center. Must have strong organizational and administrative skills including supervision, program development and working with children and parents. Ability to supervise staff. Must be able to effectively communicate with children and parents. Must understand and be committed to working with diverse population and to YMCA character development
