Overview:

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) seeks a full-time, in-person coalitions assistant to promote the work of AEI scholars and facilitate our development of relationships with key leaders in think tanks, business organizations, nonprofits, community groups, and state and local governments across the country. The assistant will split their time between supporting the coalitions team, which is responsible for state and local outreach, and the FREE Initiative, an outreach project led by Senior Fellow Ian Rowe that seeks to empower the rising generation through supporting institutions.

Qualified candidates should submit a resume, cover letter demonstrating their interest in AEIs mission, academic transcript, and 500-word writing sample on any topic. The anticipated start date for this position is as soon as possible.

Responsibilities:
  • Coalition Building and Relationship Management
    • Maintain the coalitions teams calendar, including by tracking key deadlines, upcoming coalitions engagements, partner events, etc.
    • Track and log relevant stakeholders for communities of interest using AEIs database.
  • Marketing and Outreach
    • Oversee giveaway campaigns and update contact information as needed.
    • Oversee book and other AEI product mailings.
    • Promote Mr. Rowes work at AEI by gathering transcripts of speaking engagements and submitting them to AEIs daily communication channels.
    • Maintain the online presence of Mr. Rowes scholar page, the FREE landing page, and webpages associated with FREE deliverables and events.
    • Organize and send a FREE quarterly newsletter with relevant updates.
    • Coordinate with internal and external partners that request Mr. Rowe as a speaker.
  • Administrative Support
    • Monitor calendar and speaking engagements for Mr. Rowe.
  • Research and Reporting
    • Compile and report on metrics for Mr. Rowe, other relevant scholars, coalitions team members and activities, and FREE-related events.
    • Develop and build out coalitions reporting mechanisms, customer-relationship management dashboards, and other metrics by tracking them on AEIs database.
    • Use AEI databases to track FREEs key contacts using input from Mr. Rowe, AEI staff, past partners and hosts, and prominent event attendees.
    • Partner with coalitions managers to cultivate scholar-specific communities of interest.
    • Provide research for coalitions managers and the director of state legislator outreach.
    • Complete occasional short-term research requests for Mr. Rowe and the FREE team.
  • Event Planning and Logistics
    • Assist with planning and logistics for virtual and in-person coalitions events.

Physical requirements and working conditions at AEI:

  • The employee is regularly expected to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard. This job requires close vision abilities due to computer work.
  • The employee must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • The employee must be able to work in a confined area.
  • Moderate noise (e.g., from computers, phone, printers, and light traffic) is expected.

Qualifications:
  • A bachelors degree (required)
  • 02 years of previous full-time work experience (required) and previous internship experience (strongly preferred)
  • A demonstrated commitment to AEIs mission (required)
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with a contact management database, such as Salesforce (a plus)
  • Creativity and entrepreneurialism
