Job Summary:

This part-time student employment opportunity is for an Undergraduate Research Assistant, preferably an English major or minor (but not a requirement), who will work specifically with Dr. Omar F. Miranda in the USF Department of English. The duration of this position will last throughout the Spring 2024 and possibly the Summer 2024 terms. The work load will be approximately 10 hours per week and can be arranged to accommodate the Research Assistant's schedule. The goal is to assist Professor Miranda with his research agenda and scholarly projects.

Full Job Description:

Responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to): researching information in libraries and archival databases as well as journals and monographs (both digital and print); investigating various online journals and magazines; and arranging interlibrary loan procurements. Other research duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Preferred skills: I seek a highly responsible, dependable, patient, thorough, determined, and conscientious undergraduate student -- someone who is ideally interested in working to advance the goals of the faculty research agenda. Ideal candidate is a sophomore, junior, or senior with a competitive GPA. This opportunity is well-suited for anyone considering a career that involves editing and publishing and research dimensions as well as someone interested in pursuing graduate school in law or the humanities (including an MFA). Other preferences include fluency in French and/or Spanish (though not an essential requirement).
