About the opportunity:

Responsible for preparing, reviewing, and transmitting electronic and paper claims using billing software. Posts charges and submits claims in a timely manner. Also, resolves rejections, submits re-bills, and performs collection activities including but not limited to insurance follow-up. Assists with resolving unpaid self-pay and patient residual accounts. Completes required reports and assists with special projects as assigned. Backs up other front office positions as needed

What you will do:

* Uses coding reports to post charges and produce claims for electronic and/or paper filing with insurance payers (Government, Workers Compensation & Commercial).

* Researches and enters pricing for implants and unlisted procedures.

* Demonstrates knowledge of facility billing requirements including CPT codes, HCPCS codes and ICD-10 codes.

* Applies knowledge of insurance contracts and medical procedure reimbursement.

* Coordinates with external coding contractor to ensure that all cases are coded and/or billed correctly.

* Work clearinghouse reports to identify missing and rejected claims.

* Performs claims follow-up by working aging and denials.

* Coordinates resubmission of claims when necessary.

* Submits appeals with supporting documentation when warranted.

* Identifies denial trends and works with management and payers to resolve issues.

* Utilizes skills necessary to meet collection goals and reduce A/R days.

* Investigates insurance overpayments and submits refund requests to department manager for approval.

* Complete required reports and assist with special projects as assigned.

* On an as needed basis will assist and back-up other front office staff positions.

* Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:

Experience:

* Associates degree, technical training or minimum one year related experience required. Medical terminology helpful. Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding desirable.

Computer / Typing:

* Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Education:

* College degree with emphasis in business and/or health sciences preferred

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.

Hourly Pay:

$21.32-$25.27 USD

Some roles may be based outside of our Colorado office (remote-only positions). Roles based outside of our primary office can sit in any of the following states: AZ, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, NC, NJ, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI.
