HVAC/R Service Technician Typical Work Hours:
Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 8-hour daytime shift. Additional hours as necessary.

Responsibilities:

The job of an HVAC/R Service Technician was established for the purpose/s of providing HVAC services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading HVAC systems and equipment; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that tools and materials are available at the job site.

HVAC/R Service Technician Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of documentable commercial HVAC operations, maintenance, and repair experience in the HVAC trade.
  • Graduate of an HVAC technical institute or school.
  • Work cooperatively with others and work independently with little direction.
  • Be able to competently handle a large vehicle (such as a van) including parking and backing up in tight spaces.
  • Basic record-keeping techniques utilizing web-based applications on a mobile device instead of paper tickets.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and exercises good judgment when completing tasks in an efficient and productive manner.
  • Learn and understand time constraints associated with specific repairs within time guide standards to follow Supervisor instructions to complete work in a timely manner.
  • Ability to learn multiple sizes and types of systems.
  • Organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Hands-on knowledge of HVAC systems (1-50 Tons), Commercial Refrigeration, Boilers (gas and oil-fired), Electrical Troubleshooting, and/or Digital Controls
  • Interact with clients to ensure satisfaction and to request referrals.

HVAC/R Service Technician Other Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain clean vehicle and job site including site preparation and clean up.
  • Must own personal hand tools, meters, and gauges on the day of employment.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor with clients, co-workers, and subcontractors at all times.
  • Adhere to attendance policy with willingness to work OT. Flexibility to work overtime/weekends/holidays, as necessary.
  • Adhere to and promote the Company Core Values.

Work Environment:

Must be able to work in all types of climates including extreme hot and cold temperatures. Must be able to endure walking, squatting, bending, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and prolonged standing. Must be able to climb ladders.

Education/License/Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Universal type refrigerant certification
