Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical or Civil Engineering Vibration Consultant to join our Nuclear Vibration team. The Consultant will specialize in piping and structural vibration testing, remaining life analysis, mitigation, and coupled structural/rotating machinery troubleshooting and fault analysis.

P
rimary Responsibilities:

  • Manages consulting or technical projects including the development of proposals, client interaction, coordination of resources and scheduling for consulting and/or development projects.
  • Takes initiative to support expedited client requests and emergency/critical path projects.
  • Provides field support including instrumentation, analysis, and on-site problem solving.
  • Provides project management, analyst, and review support to team members on consulting projects.
  • Initiates and maintains contacts with clients and possesses skills in business development for revenue generation.
  • Demonstrates diverse knowledge of engineering disciplines related to vibration assessments and mitigative strategies, taking full responsibility of these technical aspects of a project.
  • Provides development and mentoring of staff and team building to meet expanding business and succession needs.
  • Serves as a technical resource for various hardware and software packages.
  • Authors technical reports and articles, publishes technical papers and present on topics at industry conferences.


Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • 8 years or more of experience in vibration testing, analysis, and mitigation
  • Capability to independently pursue, contract, and execute work as a consultant
  • Proficient in writing technical reports and proposals, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Adept at software/scripting in one or more programming languages
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time or more, seasonally, upon request
  • ASME Section III, VIII, Operations and Maintenance (OM, Part 3) and/or B31.1 Code experience including load analysis, design reviews, and/or suitability for service assessments
  • Ability to obtain Nuclear Unescorted Access Authorization (UAA) required


Desired Skills/Qualifications:

  • Vibration Institute certification, CAT IV
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Ph.D. or Masters degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
  • Programming experience in LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, and/or ANSYS APDL
  • Member of professional organizations or societies (ASME, API, etc.)
  • Specialty in Flow-Induced Vibration (including vortex shedding, acoustics, fluid-elastic instability, turbulence, etc.)
  • Specialty in fatigue and fracture assessments (FEA flaw modeling, transient and/or random vibration analysis)
  • Expertise in fitness for service evaluations using API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 Level 3 assessments and DNV standards
  • Knowledge and application of advanced FFS assessment tools (CFD, acoustic pulsation, water hammer simulations, etc.)
  • Experience performing ASME Section III Subsection NG evaluations and/or Appendix N
  • Demonstrates an understanding of oil refining, petrochemical, and/or nuclear systems and applicable damage mechanisms


The expected salary range for this role in Colorado is $104,000-133,000 annually. Exact pay will be commensurate with experience.
