Home Care Aide Job Requirements:
  • Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC), Home Care Aide (HCA) certification, or NAR + fundamentals (pre-2008) required.
  • Valid driver's license, current insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Compassion, understanding, socially accepting of other cultures, open-minded, and a patient demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
  • Responsible, honest, and ethical in all situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable.
  • Maintains appropriate personal and professional boundaries with all client-caregiver relationships.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Report concerns, changes of care, or barriers to care to appropriate licensed clinical staff.
  • Open to working in different home environments that may include pets, smoke, etc.
  • Ability to pass a background check, fingerprinting, and drug screening.
  • Previous experience in home care, caregiving, or a related field preferred.


Qualifications

Home Care Aide Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Perform medication reminders and assistance in accordance with client-specific care plans and within guidelines written within the WA Board of Pharmacy and HCA Washington Administrative Code (WAC).
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation as outlined in the client specific plan of care. Other duties that may be included in a plan of care; meal planning, shopping, eating assistance, and dietary management.
  • Assisting with written correspondence, mail, and phone and text messages.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, outings, and social activities.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers as needed.
  • Taking vital signs and monitoring overall hygiene.
  • Alzheimer's and dementia care.
  • Overnight shift options may be available.
  • Accurate and thorough documentation of tasks performed or refused, changes in condition, or any concerns that need to be reported to appropriate licensed clinical staff.
  • Always communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
