The Role
We're in search of a skilled Hardware Technician to aid in bringing our cutting-edge surgical navigation system to life. This position offers a distinctive opportunity to work on all stages of a medical device, from early prototypes to final production units.
In your inaugural year at Illuminant, you'll collaborate closely with the Hardware Lead, utilizing state-of-the-art industrial equipment, including multi-axis CNCs, wire EDM machines, and 3D printers. Your primary focus will be crafting the tangible product slated for submission to the FDA for clearance. Concurrently, you'll be tasked with developing test fixtures for Verification and Validation, ensuring the comprehensive assessment of our device's performance and safety within the operating room. Following FDA clearance, your role will pivot towards refining our production workflow. Your insights will be instrumental in enhancing efficiency and optimizing manufacturing processes for larger-scale production. Join us in shaping the future of surgical technology at Illuminant!
Responsibilities
Setup, operate, and maintain manufacturing equipment, ensuring efficient and safe production processes
Assemble optomechanical/electrical assemblies using custom fabricated parts designed in-house and off the shelf components.
Perform quality control on manufactured parts and assemblies to ensure adherence to specified dimensional, geometric, or performance standards
Identify equipment requirements, provide process improvement feedback, and maintain material inventory
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery to minimize downtime and enhance overall equipment effectiveness
Receive shipments and coordinate deliveries of stock, fabricated parts, assemblies, etc.
Contribute to improving SOPs and safety procedures
What We're Looking For
Must have experience as a Manufacturing Technician or Engineer
Must have strong proficiency in operating and maintaining manufacturing industrial equipment
Must have a proven skillset in diverse manufacturing techniques, including but not limited to sheet metal bending, milling, and additive manufacturing
Must have the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and documentation related to medical device manufacturing

Preferred: Proficiency in CAD software (Fusion 360) and GD&T
Nice to Have: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator

Must have familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

Preferred: Familiarity with ISO, IEC, and other standards pertaining to the medical device industry

Strong problem-solving skills, especially in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a manufacturing setting
Effective communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with engineers and other team members to ensure clear understanding of manufacturing requirements
Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment, where priorities may shift based on production needs
Willingness to actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute ideas for optimizing manufacturing processes through Design for Manufacturing principles
Must have high school diploma or equivalent

Preferred: An associate degree or technical certifications for various manufacturing practices
Nice to have: Specialized training in medical device manufacturing or related fields
