Job Summary
Battelle s Energy Division is currently seeking an experienced Operations Geologist . This position is located in Columbus, OH , but will consider remote locations.
As an Operations Geologist, the successful candidate will provide geological support for commercial Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects. This position will work within a multidisciplinary team in collaboration with geoscience, petrophysics, and reservoir engineering staff.
Key responsibilities based on current or anticipated projects include:
Provide onsite supervision of well logging, coring, fluid sampling, and reservoir testing
Develop formation evaluation plans that align with EPA Class VI permitting requirements
Solicit vendor quotes and be an integral member of the vetting and selection process
Provide well planning support: geological prognosis and assist in casing and mud programs
Integration of regional and local-scale geological and geophysical data to support assessment of reservoirs targeted for carbon sequestration.
Application of fundamental subsurface interpretation skills including well log evaluation, subsurface mapping, and core data analysis.
Mentoring of early-career staff on geologic interpretation and reservoir characterization workflows.
Communication of results and findings to Internal and external clients.
Technical report and permit writing.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor s Degree in Geosciences or closely related discipline with 6 years of Geological experience in O&G or CCUS or Master s Degree in the Geosciences or closely related discipline with 4 years of Geological experience in O&G or CCUS or PhD with 1 year of relevant experience.
Wellsite experience working with mud loggers, wireline, MWD/directional drillers, and coring subcontractors
Experience with interpretation in structurally complex settings.
Hands on experience with geologic analysis and integration software suites such as Geographix.
Ability to work independently to progress project work, as well as contribute technical feedback in a collaborative setting.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to represent Battelle or its clients at conferences or public forums.
Travel is expected to be up to 50%.
Must be a US Citizen.
