Position Details

The Sykes College of Business (COB) at the University of Tampa invites applications for a Student Success Coordinator to assist the Dean's Office in implementing student retention and success strategies across all undergraduate programs and departments in the College. The Student Success Coordinator will also provide academic advising services, assist in the administration of academic advising across the College, and serve as the COB liaison with the Academic Success Center, Academic Advising Office, and the Office of Academic Success Initiatives.

Responsibilities
1. Provide auxiliary academic advising support to continuing undergraduate business students by appointment or walk-in. Duties include facilitating degree progression planning, facilitating registration clearance, and collaborating with other offices to troubleshoot registration roadblocks.
2. Assists students with requests for various forms and processes (independent studies, internships, academic petitions, prerequisite overrides, overloads, etc.).
3. Conduct graduation checks for all business seniors to confirm completion of degree requirements for graduation and identify unmet requirements.
4. Conduct outreach to undergraduate business students with midterm alerts and academically at risk to promote success strategies and degree completion.
5. Review and approve transient forms for continuing students.
6. Provide support for COB faculty advisors, including coordinating faculty training for COB faculty advisors. Assist faculty in troubleshooting complex advising situations; facilitate communication between faculty advisors and relevant offices to ensure more consistent student experience.
7. Create and update (annually or as needed) advising documents for undergraduate business students including COB core and major flowcharts, advising materials to support faculty, and other materials to communicate degree requirements and universities to policies to students and faculty.
8. Hold group advising sessions for students about registration and graduation requirements.
9. Assist with COB events to promote academic planning and professional development.
10. Collaborate with Student Success Coordinators in other colleges.
11. Collaborate with the Office of Academic Success Initiatives on retention and completion campaigns including stop-out and graduation outreach initiatives.
12. Utilize the University's Student Success Management System for advising workflow and conducting outreach to students.
13. Other duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean.

Qualifications
1. Master's degree required.
2. Previous experience in a post-secondary academic setting with experience in advising and knowledge of university curriculum, programs, polices, and procedures.
3. Excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication, and computer skills (MS programs).
4. Ability to maintain a positive and objective approach when confronted with difficult situations.
5. Strong customer service skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of students, faculty, administrators, and staff.
6. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time, prioritize well, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to FERPA guidelines.
7. Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday, Microsoft Office, Navigate.
8. Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.
9. Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion with staff and students.
Preferred Qualifications
1. 2 or more years academic advising experience in a college or university setting.
2. Experience working with special populations and limited access majors.
3. Previous teaching experience.

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Summer: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
