About the Organization & Opportunity:

Responsibilities:

  • Controller will manage all day to day accounting / general ledger accounting
  • Controller will manage month end close - depreciations, related entries, etc.
  • Controller will produce financial statements and then distributing them to various managers
  • Controller will complete variance analysis (budget to actual variances)
  • Controller will be responsible for bank reconciliations for 3 companies (Our client, foundation, and a 501(c)(4))
  • Controller will ensure all reconciliations are completed (Should be clean with all necessary follow up completed)
  • Controller will make payroll entries
  • Controller will possibly assist with 990 and audit prep
  • Controller will be responsible for year end - When year end arrives, the organization should be balanced up through November
  • Controller will run revenue reports on a monthly basis for membership and for contributions
  • Controller will be the point of contact with the bank - will review first with CEO before contacting bank. CEO will approve payments to be released and review payroll with HR.
  • Controller will review AR and AP
  • Controller will review the work of the Senior Accounting Manager, Part Time Special Projects Accountant, and AR Specialist (the AR Specialist reports to the Senior Accounting Manager)
  • Controller will complete ad hoc tasks and projects, as requested (including pulling membership data for CEO)


Requirements:

  • Accounting Manager (from a larger organization) or Controller level experience required
  • Degree in accounting required
  • Previous nonprofit accounting experience required
  • Should have a strong understanding of GL accounting and nonprofit accounting concepts
  • Previous audit prep experience
  • Previous Microsoft Dynamics GP experience is a plus but NOT required
  • Subsidiary ledgers are in Netforum (CRM) - any previous CRM experience is a plus
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP's)
