Inova is seeking experienced Pharmacy Technician 2 to join our Pharmacy to help expand our services in the Eastern Region of Northern Virginia.
We are opening a brand-new state-of-the-art health care facility in Alexandria, VA. Located in the Potomac Yard neighborhood is an outpatient facility that will include a full-service emergency room, ambulatory surgery, imaging services, primary care and other medical offices.

* Inova Health Center - Oakville is an ambulatory facility that will include a full-service emergency room, ambulatory surgery, imaging services, and a large primary and specialty care ambulatory practice.
* The facility, scheduled to open in 2024, will be the anchor of a new mixed-use development in a growing part of the City of Alexandria, neighboring Amazon HQ2, the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus, and the thousands of new residents and workers who will locate there.
* Oakville will be the first of a multi-year development project designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of those who live in Inova's Eastern Region service area (Alexandria, Mount Vernon, and Franconia-Springfield).
* Oakville will be co-located with over 35,000 square feet of retail space (food, shops, etc.) and directly adjacent to a new 500+ apartment development.
* This state-of-the-art facility will leverage new and innovative design and technological features that will enhance the care experience for team members and patients

The Pharmacy Technician 2 procures and distributes medications per physician and Pharmacist requests or prearranged work assignments according to established policies, procedures and protocols. Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies and demonstrates proficiency in IV admixture procedures including using aseptic technique in preparation of medication, calculations, maintenance of clean areas and complete documentation. Takes ownership for the control, accountability and distribution of controlled drugs in the Pharmacy.
Job Responsibilities
* Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
* Accurately pre-packs medications, restocks assigned areas, puts away unused medications and accurately restocks code cart and stock kits.
* Performs monthly unit inspections and monitors expiration dates.
* Performs basic cash register operations in outpatient Pharmacy, orders items, properly stocks shelves, processes returns and identifies vendor errors.
* Conducts Pharmacy runs within 30 minutes of scheduled time.
* Accurately fills automated dispensing devices and fills unit dose pick, first doses and floor stock.
* Accurately processes refill orders from customers.
* Accurately generates reports/input orders, generates charges/credits and reprints labels.
* Assists Pharmacist in drug selection and counting medications accurately.
* Showcases proficiency in IV Admixture procedures including using aseptic technique in preparation of medications, calculations, maintenance of clean area and complete documentation and accurately prepares IV Admixture and sterile compounding.
* Achieves greater than 70 percent on yearly aseptic technique, chemo and calculation competencies.
* Maintains equipment including cleaning surfaces, calibration of equipment and changing hood filters.
* Documents on hood cleaning logs, temperature logs and other records as required and ensures all documentation is complete and appropriately filed.
* Takes ownership for the control, accountability and distribution of controlled drugs in the Pharmacy and accurately controls medications from the vault using Secure Med or CII Safe.
* May perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Education - High School or GED
Schedule - Part Time M-F Day/Evening 16 Hours Per Week with Weekends
Experience - 1 Year working as a pharmacy tech with a hospital REQUIRED
Experience - 1 Year IV training/experience REQUIRED
