Essential Functions

Operate and monitor all equipment in the University Central Utility Plant (CUP) and other buildings on campus in a safe and efficient manner. Make rounds and complete operation logs, monitor campus equipment through the energy management systems, not deficiencies and take corrective action. Maintain, perform preventative maintenance, and complete minor repairs on all equipment within the CUP as required. Conduct routine utility systems inspections and respond to emergency calls in other buildings and grounds on UNO campus during evening and weekend and holiday hours.

Work Schedule
Various shifts, up to 20 hours a week

Additional Duties

This requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Operate and monitor all equipment located within the CUP and other buildings on campus. Components include but not limited to chillers, boilers, air handling units, pumps, air compressors, emergency generators, valves, A/C units, distillers, water softeners, etc. Maintain, perform preventative maintenance, and complete minor repairs on all equipment within the CUP as required. Must be able to use basic hand tools, tube cleaning equipment, ladders, lifts, press, drills, grinders, saws, refrigeration gauges, volt/ohm/amp meters etc. Respond to trouble calls received outside of normal university hours, and take the appropriate course of action based on conditions of the situation. Complete work order tickets, PM sheets, Materials/services request forms, inspection reports, log sheets and other required paperwork. Perform general housekeeping duties in the CUP. This includes but in not limited to sweeping, washing, painting, etc.

Required Qualifications

Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Two years' experience with large district heating and cooling equipment, and building mechanical systems, one year experience in hands on boiler operation.
City of Omaha - Third Grade Engineers License. Third Grade is required.

Preferred Qualifications

One year experience with computerized energy management systems. Valid Driver's License.
City of Omaha - First Grade Engineers License.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Occasionally works from heights and lifts from 11-100lbs less than 2 hours daily. Squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, crawling, climbing and walking on rough ground.
