Education Week, a nonprofit media organization that provides the most trusted news on K-12 American education, is seeking a Front Office Assistant to join our Administration team.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Assistant/Office Manager, the Front Office Assistant is a dynamic individual who provides general office support which includes a variety of clerical activities on a day-to-day basis. The desired candidate should be professional, punctual, highly organized, energetic, have attention to detail, and have outstanding customer service experience. This is a hybrid work opportunity in which the current arrangement is three days in the office and two days at home.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the telephone system by answering, screening, and directing calls to the appropriate individual or department. Provide necessary information during the call.
  • Greet and welcome visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Ensures that the conference rooms, supply rooms, kitchens are clean, tidy, and stocked with supplies.
  • Collects, opens, sort, and route incoming mail and deliveries to the appropriate individual or department. Manages outgoing packages via FedEx system.
  • Promptly submits work orders for building maintenance to property management group.
  • Assists the Executive Assistant on tasks related to Education Week and social events.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma with 1 year of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of customer service, administrative, and clerical procedures.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Slack, and using the Internet.
  • Ability to learn, adapt, prioritize, ask questions, and follow instructions.
  • Good team player with the willingness to assist others and share expertise.
