About the Department:

The College of Public Health (CPH) prepares students to become leaders and shape the public's health through academic excellence, research of consequence, community outreach, and inter-professional clinical practice. The College enrolls more than 1,900 undergraduate and 1,300 graduate students in its nationally-recognized offerings. CPH Development provides strategic, active management of the fundraising efforts that support the College and student, faculty, and staff success.

About the Position:

The position involves a range of responsibilities, including developing position descriptions, facilitating the recruitment process, coordinating interviews, on-boarding and off-boarding employees, and providing administrative support as needed. The incumbent collaborates closely with various teams and stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of HR-related tasks and projects. This position also assists the Human Resources Specialist as needed.

Responsibilities:

Position Description Development:

  • Collaborates with department heads to create accurate and comprehensive job descriptions for new and existing positions; and
  • Ensures position descriptions are aligned with organizational goals and accurately reflect job requirements.
Recruitment and Selection:
  • Posts job announcements on relevant platforms and websites;
  • Coordinates with search committees to schedule and organize candidate interviews;
  • Prepares interview agendas and assists in the logistics of interview processes; and
  • Facilitates communication between hiring managers, candidates, and interview panels.
Candidate Selection and Onboarding:
  • Collaborates with hiring managers to finalize recruitment decisions;
  • Extends non-benefitted job offers to selected candidates; and
  • Assists in the onboarding process by providing necessary paperwork, information, and orientation;
Off-boarding and Administrative Support:
  • Manages the off-boarding process, ensuring proper documentation and procedures are followed;
  • Coordinates with relevant departments to terminate card access for departing employees; and
  • Provides backup support to the Administrative Assistant as needed.
Data Management and Systems Administration:
  • Enters assignment details and related information into the BANNER system for accurate record-keeping;
  • Requests card swipe access for newly hired employees; and
  • Processes requests to terminate card access for employees no longer requiring access.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Demonstrated work experience, either in the private or public sector, where the following have been acquired or developed:
    • Communication skills for clear and effective interaction;
    • Organizational skills for managing various tasks and deadlines;
    • Confidentiality skills for handling sensitive information;
    • Adaptability skills for managing change and unpredictability; and
    • Problem solving and attention to detail skills.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills for effectively interacting with candidates, hiring managers, and stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills:
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage various projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to Detail:
    • Keen attention to detail when developing position descriptions and managing candidate documentation.
  • Technology Proficiency:
    • Proficient in using HR software, systems (such as Banner), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Collaboration:
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field; and
  • Previous experience in human resources, recruitment, or administrative support is advantageous.
