Buddy s Story

Over 75 years ago a new style of pizza was born in the Motor City, and it was different. What makes a pizza Detroit-Style? The same things that made Detroit, MI a little bit of ingenuity, some stubborn spirit and a whole lot of heart. It s what sparked an original idea back in 1946 to take a steel auto pan, create something new and make Buddy s the birthplace of Detroit-Style Pizza. Detroit-Style Pizza is recognizable by its iconic square shape and crunchy, cheesy corner slices. Founded on the corner of Six Mile and Conant, Buddy s has now grown to over 20 locations and is expanding throughout the mid-west to introduce Detroit-Style Pizza beyond the Detroit area.


Leads and behaves according to Buddy s Culture Beliefs and Behaviors. The Area Coach provides leadership, coaching, and direction to their locations through team member development. The Area Coach will lead up to 6-8 locations on average, depending on the market. The Area Coach leads to improved location operations and maximizes the long-term sales and profit of each location. The Area Coach will plan and set goals for each location, monitor the progress of goals (Sales, Profits, Customer Metrics, Turnover, and Controllable Operating Profit) and hold team members accountable for delivering results through coaching.


Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the growth and profitability of the business through effective management oversight for day-to-day operations.
  • Manage all food and beverage operations for the restaurants, ensuring quality standards are maintained in terms of product, service, safety, and sanitation.
  • Implement and maintain cost controls within plan objectives to optimize profitability.
  • Develop and uphold a service and management philosophy that guides team members to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Oversee, scheduling, training, and development of team members to foster a culture of accountability and responsibility.
  • Manage the process for ordering and maintaining all inventories, focusing on cost control efforts for labor and waste management.
  • Provide leadership for each manager in the market to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve sales goals.
  • Work with each Manager to deliver profit goals and meet targeted objectives, utilizing available reports to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Coach and train various levels of Management for operational excellence.
  • Develop and maintain management staffing levels, ensuring full staffing for each location in the market and actively participating in the selection process.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local health and safety codes, and company safety and security policies to maintain a safe environment for employees and customers.
  • Lead recognition and motivation efforts throughout the market to inspire and retain talent.
  • Authority to hire and terminate (or participate in those decisions) to maintain an effective team.
  • Resolve Employee Relations (ER) activities proactively and effectively, providing necessary assistance to managers.



Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor s or Associate s Degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years proven leadership experience, managing multiple units preferably within a rapidly growing restaurant organization.
  • Minimum five (5) years of prior food and beverage or hospitality experience is required.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • ServSafe certification


Physical & Safety Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting, standing, walking, pulling, pushing, stretching, twisting, reaching, kneeling, stooping and bending with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Must wear job specific personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participation in all safety and OSHA trainings.
  • Ability to work with kitchen equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds comfortably.

Work Schedule/Hours:

  • 5 days a week as needed/50 hours per week.

Travel:

  • Approximately 50%-75%.
