Description

A production scheduler is responsible for planning and coordinating the production activities of a manufacturing company. They ensure that the production process runs smoothly and efficiently, and that the products meet the quality and quantity standards of the customers. A production scheduler also monitors the inventory levels and communicates with buyers to resolves any issues or delays that may impact the production schedule. A production scheduler works closely with the production manager, the engineering team, and the quality control team to optimize the production schedule and minimize costs and waste.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyzing the demand and supply of products and materials and forecasting the optimal production levels and schedules.
  • Communicating with various departments, such as sales, engineering, purchasing, and quality control, to ensure the availability of resources and the alignment of goals and expectations.
  • Monitoring the progress and performance of the production process, and adjusting the schedules as needed to meet the deadlines and quality standards.
  • Identifying and resolving any issues or problems that may arise during the production process, such as equipment breakdowns, material shortages, or labor disputes.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate and timely reports and records of the production activities, such as inventory levels, output, costs, and efficiency.


  • Requirements

  • Able to analyze data, identify problems and find solutions.
  • Able to use software tools such as spreadsheets, databases and scheduling systems.
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally with different stakeholders, such as managers, workers, suppliers and customers.
  • Write reports and documents that are accurate and concise.
  • Prioritize tasks, manage time and resources, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adapt to changing situations and cope with stress.
  • Understand the production process, the materials, the equipment and the quality standards.
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics, statistics and engineering principles.
