Senior Engineer - Substation Design
Las Vegas, NV (onsite)
5+Month Contract
Client is seeking a highly skilled Substation Engineer to join the team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive engineering design services for substation facilities, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within allocated resources. Additionally, the Substation Engineer will provide leadership, training, and direction to fellow staff members.
Responsibilities:
Develop economical, technically feasible, and reliable substation physical and control designs with minimal supervision.
Ensure quality control on assigned projects by providing construction support and conducting job site inspections.
Coordinate and communicate effectively with other departments to maintain project schedules and expenditures.
Provide assistance and guidance to other departments and districts in resolving non-standard substation design problems.
Monitor project expenditures and practice cost control to meet project commitments.
Provide accurate cost estimates for use in company budgeting procedures.
Input into the development of detailed project schedules and update project management systems accordingly.
Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the position and the company.
Requirements:
Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited school.
Minimum of 5 years of industry experience as a practicing engineer, along with a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Demonstrated knowledge of relay protection, wiring & control, and other phases of substation engineering.
Experience in cost control, budgets, finance, and accounting with technical expertise in cost analysis.
Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to multitask, lead, conduct research, analyze data, manage projects, solve problems, and make decisions effectively.
Proficiency in PC applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Willingness to work in both a general office environment and occasionally in the field for supervision purposes.
