Program Manager of IDD Group/Community Homes in Prince William County: Join our team of professionals! BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The Program Manager of IDD Group/Community Homes position supports individuals living in group homes throughout Prince William County, VA. The position involves supervision of staff and direct interventions with individuals and case management. Salaried position commensurate upon education and experience.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants for Program Manager must have experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and a Bachelor s in a Human Services field, including Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Therapeutic Services, Nursing, or other related field; OR 5 years professional work experience with IDD individuals. Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration (MAT), Medicaid Waiver, Human Rights, OSHA and Van Training. Criminal and Child Protective Services Background investigations conducted for all employees; must meet state of Virginia employment eligibility requirements. Written, communication and computer skills, a valid Virginia Driver/s license, a licensed U.S. driver with a minimum if THREEE (3) years driving experience in the United States. Driving record must meet agency s vehicle insurance carrier requirements during the past three years of continuous driving experience, the ability to attend and pass onsite training classes within the first 30 days of hire.

Administrative:

  1. Operate the group homes according to the policies and procedures established by the INSIGHT Board of Directors and Administration.
  2. Supervise the sound fiscal management of household and resident accounts in accordance with established spending guidelines and procedures.
  3. Inform the Residential Director of issues, events and progress through regular meetings.
  4. Act as direct supervisor of the Residential Counselors and Substitute Residential Counselors employed at the program.
  5. Evaluate the Residential Counselors employed at the program.
  6. Coordinate staff schedules for submission and approval of the Residential Director.
  7. Supervise new staff orientation.
  8. Coordinate Substitute Counselor training.
  9. Coordinate volunteer orientation and training.
  10. Coordinate in-house staff meetings.
  11. Provide consultation, feedback and support to Counselors.
  12. Notify the Residential Director of household and maintenance needs and provide for safety and security of residents, staff and property.
  13. Act as primary liaison to agencies, families and other groups dealing with the residents of the program.
  14. Protect the human rights of the residents and safeguard the confidentiality of their records.
  15. Encourage community awareness of the needs of the mentally retarded and of residential programs.
  16. Participate in staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
  17. Use and further develop personal qualities such as flexibility, common sense, responsibility, initiative, problem solving, communication and sense of humor.
Programmatic:
  1. Coordinate the ongoing assessment of the service needs of residents and assure that those needs are met within specified time frames.
  2. Coordinate the development, periodic evaluation and revision of each Individual Program Plan and Quarterly Reports.
  3. Advocate resident human rights and the rights to the least restrictive environment.
  4. Act as an appropriate role model.
  5. Counsel residents and teach them how to define and solve problems by facilitating self-expression and other means of communication.
  6. Encourage the integration of residents into the community.
  7. Teach residents independent living skills including, but not limited to, money management, food purchase and preparation, personal care, community mobility and resources awareness, day program/job responsibilities, use of leisure time and interpersonal skills.
  8. Document resident progress and issues.
  9. Plan appropriate recreational activities when necessary.
  10. Provide transportation of residents, when necessary, to day placements, appointments and activities.
  11. Perform other duties as required.
  12. Maintain household petty cash and resident finances in an accurate, safe and timely manner.
  13. Ensure that residents entering the program have a complete and thorough Diagnostic Study.
  14. Ensure that the home meets Virginia State Department of MHMRSAS Licensure Requirements and any other applicable licensing regulations.
  15. Ensure that fire drills are done correctly and documented at least monthly, including inspection of fire equipment.
  16. Provide safe and home-like environment for staff and residents.
  17. Maintain residents confidential folder in accordance with regulations and policies.
  18. Provide one-to-one training for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities and direct care of residents.
  19. Provide coverage at the house when needed.
Physical Qualifications:
  1. Free of TB communicable form.
  2. Physically able to drive vehicle and eligible for driver s license.
  3. Able to complete household chores.
  4. Able to climb stairs and physically maneuver around the home and community.
  5. Able to assist individuals with evaluation.
  6. Insurable under INSIGHT S automobile insurance policy.
  7. Able to communicate effectively with the individuals.
  8. Ability to become First Aid and CPR certified.
  9. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
