About VeraSafe
VeraSafe is an innovative and successful U.S. headquartered privacy and cybersecurity compliance consulting firm and law firm. Due to rapid growth and increased demand for our international privacy and technology compliance and legal services, VeraSafe is seeking creative, motivated, and collaborative attorneys to join our team, regardless of prior work experience or education background. About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to join a team working on the cutting edge of privacy and data protection, and who wants to further develop a practice in an in-demand, high-tech area of law. We are inundated with business from clients who love the way we advise on privacy compliance (hence the need for you!).
We have found our strongest team members dont necessarily have prior experience in privacy law. Youll begin with a robust and established onboarding and training process and quickly begin attending client calls and doing substantive work.
Note: There is a 1-3 hour skills assessment associated with the recruitment for this position. We know this is a burden, but we think its worth it, and we appreciate you taking the time to complete it. Weve found it enables us to find the best attorneys, regardless of their experience, where they went to law school, or where they were trained. We want smart, kind, creative lawyers, plain and simple, and this assessment is a crucial part of our ability to hire this way.
We are not your typical legal job. We use project managers to keep our remote team organized and our projects streamlined and on-track. We encourage our team members to travel and to make use of our ability to work as digital nomads, whether that means spending a month abroad or on extended trips to be near family. Because were a fully remote team, were also flexible about where you make your home base so long as youre legally able to work and practice law there. We collaborate closely (you wont feel like youre working in isolation) and we actively encourage sharing of credit for work well done, resources, and advice (and penalize the reverse).
We are not biglaw. We do top-notch work for biglaw-level clients, yet we pride ourselves on our team members being happy, with time and energy for a life outside of work, which we believe makes us better attorneys who dont burn out and deliver higher quality work product. Our salaries are competitive with mid-sized firms in mid-sized markets, but we have lower billable requirements. Our annual bonus is spread and paid over the four quarters of the year and earned from exceeding your billed time requirements on a quarterly basis, so you can have more or less productive quarters based on the realities of your life.

Responsibilities include:
- Assessing client information systems for compliance with data protection laws and regulations
- Drafting data protection agreements, addenda, and amendments
- Advising clients on privacy-related product improvements
- Researching legal issues and composing legal opinions/memoranda
- Writing privacy law related articles and blog posts
- Assisting in the development of in-house legal templates
- Contributing to the development of internal procedures and methodologies
- Collaborating with a team of intellectual peers who value cooperation and community.
What We Need From You
Need to have:
- License to practice law (active and in good standing) in your jurisdiction
- At least three years of work experience as an attorney
- An interest in privacy and technology
- Team player, interested in contributing to a growing enterprise
- Strong writing/editing skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work remotely
- Willingness to learn new skills and receive direction and feedback from partners
- Willingness to pursue privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM)
Nice to have:
- Previous contract drafting and negotiation experience strongly preferred
- Experience/training in privacy law
- Privacy certifications of some kind (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPP/US, specialty from law school, etc.)
- Professional involvement in the privacy and/or data security space (attendance at privacy conferences; membership or publication in the IAPP, etc.)
