Job Summary:

Are you excited about the opportunity to contribute to the legendary National Geographic brand? We are hiring a Photo Production Coordinator that will collaborate with multiple Photo Editors in the research, development, and production of photographic stories for National Geographic's print and digital platforms. This role is instrumental in handling media assets, facilitating flawless collaboration across various platforms and teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate outstanding attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and creative problem-solving abilities. This multifaceted position involves technical, creative, organizational, and administrative responsibilities, demanding both research and technical skills to contribute to the creation of compelling visual presentations.

What You Will Do:

Manage and organize media assets, including files, captions, and credits, for feature stories and large-scale projects across various National Geographic platforms.
Act as a key liaison between photographic staff and internal/external teams, facilitating effective communication and collaboration to ensure the seamless flow of visual content.
Maintain multiple schedules, assisting in the coordination of photo shoots, and helping prepare necessary paperwork such as restrictions, releases, permits, carnets, and letters of introduction.
Assist in budget preparations and coverage plan development, contributing to efficient photo production strategies.
Employ excellent research skills to support the research and development of magazine stories and other photographic content.
Use technical skills to support and create visual presentations, ensuring that National Geographic's visual standards are met.
Experience using in various software tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, digital asset management (DAM) systems, and content management systems (CMS).
Exhibit a strong understanding of photography, videography, and mobile storytelling, enabling effective collaboration with the creative teams.
Maintain strong attention to detail and organizational skills to assist editors with story production, meet deadlines, and manage visual assets for production and archiving.
Foster strong communication and interpersonal skills, collaborating across departments including photo, video, mobile, podcasts, social, and communications, while managing and communicating with diverse creative teams and personalities.
Required Qualifications & Skills:

Experience in editorial development, publishing, or photo production.
Experience with production for digital platforms and familiarity with multimedia ethics.
Proficiency in Mac operating systems and basic software tools.
Experience with software applications such as Filemaker Pro, Dropbox (or equivalent), DAM and CMS systems, web-based applications, and image editing software.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with documentary visual storytelling from pitch to completion.
Familiarity with the photography industry and a strong visual sense.
Expertise in National Geographic's core interest areas including, natural history, environment, science, history/culture, and travel.
Education

Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
