Senior Engineer II - Substation Design
5+Month Contract
Las Vegas, NV (onsite)
Client is seeking a skilled Substation Design Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive engineering design services for substation facilities. This role requires leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within allocated resources.
Responsibilities:
- Develop economical, reliable substation physical and control designs independently.
- Manage multiple substation projects, ensuring quality control and adherence to schedules.
- Coordinate procurement tasks and provide technical guidance to other departments.
- Offer solutions for non-standard substation design problems and provide accurate cost estimates.
- Assist in developing detailed project schedules and update project management systems accordingly.
- Provide construction support as needed, including coordination with construction forces and job site inspections.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external consulting firms.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the position and company.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 8 years of industry experience as a practicing engineer with a valid PE license, or 10+ years without.
- Strong knowledge of substation/control engineering principles and other phases of engineering.
- Proficiency in cost analysis, budgeting, and finance.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, lead functional teams, and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in PC applications including word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
- Willingness to work in both office and field environments, with occasional travel as required.
