Chesapeake Arts Center (CAC) seeks an enthusiastic, experienced, and goal-oriented Education Director who is passionate about how the power of arts can facilitate community connections and bring people of diverse backgrounds, ages, and cultures together. This is a full-time, (40 hours/week), exempt position.

We also believe in providing equal opportunity to all qualified persons in our recruitment and hiring practices.As the Education Director in a multi-disciplinary arts setting, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and overseeing educational programs that integrate various artistic disciplines. This position requires a dynamic leader with a strong background in education, program design and development, and collaboration. The Education Director will be a key leader on CAC s management team who works closely with all staff and contracted instructors to ensure a comprehensive and cohesive educational experience for students of all ages and backgrounds.

Supervisory Responsibilities:This position supervises the Education Coordinator, MakerSpace Manager, department chairs,

and 30-40 contractual arts instructors.

Responsibilities:Program Development:

Design, develop, and implement comprehensive educational programs aligned with the mission and goals of CAC.

Collaborate with staff and other stakeholders to ensure educational programs meet the needs and interests of diverse audiences, including children, youth, adults, and underserved communities.

Develop and implement three semesters of quality tuition-based arts classes; develop class catalog information and calendar scheduling of all class information.

Manage grant-funded, free, and low-cost after-school/out of school education programs; develop program ideas and manage successful execution and evaluation.

Stay abreast of current trends and advancements in arts education and multi-disciplinary programs.

Ensure all educational programs are up-to-date and accurate on CAC website; coordinate information outreach with education and marketing teams.

Other duties as assigned.

Instructor Collaboration and Oversight:

Recruit, train, and supervise a team of contracted arts instructors to deliver high-quality educational experiences.

Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to instructors to enhance their program execution and teaching skills.

Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values creativity, diversity, and continuous learning.

Produce teaching artist contracts, ensuring background checks and other essential paperwork is completed.

Manage instructor pay in coordination with the HR/Finance Director

Student Engagement:

Foster positive relationships with educators, parents, and caregivers to encourage ongoing engagement and support for arts education initiatives.

Manage student scholarship programs and ensure scholarship grant compliance.

Assessment and Evaluation:

Develop and implement evaluation tools to assess the impact of all education programs.

Collect and analyze data on participant outcomes, satisfaction levels, and programmatic success indicators.

Use evaluation findings to inform program improvements, strategic planning, and decision-making processes.

Community Outreach:

Collaborate with community partners, industry professionals, and other stakeholders to integrate real-world perspectives into the educational programs.

Cultivate partnerships with schools, community organizations, and other local stakeholders to expand the reach and impact of all educational programs.

Work with the Marketing Department to ensure audience engagement with all education programs.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage the budget for education programs, ensuring efficient use of resources.

Monitor and manage education-related grant budgets.

Qualifications:

BA/BFA in Arts Management, Arts Education, or other related fields.

3-4 years of experience in arts or education setting, or in education program development and implementation. Additional arts education program experience can replace an academic degree.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously and meet deadlines on a consistent schedule.

Experience teaching and working with students in both formal and informal settings.

Strong computer skills: knowledge of Google Drive and other standard business. technology is required; knowledge of and experience in using standard Microsoft Office programs. Database knowledge helpful.

Ability to work quickly and efficiently and meet deadlines; be self-directed and take initiative.

Ability to approach challenges in a supportive and creative manner; and to collaborate with colleagues and community members.

Flexible schedule as well as some weekends/evenings for CAC events.

Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Position requires occasional travel in and around sites within Anne Arundel County and Baltimore with reliable transportation.

May require occasional standing, cleaning, organizing, walking, lifting, and bending.
