Job Summary: The role of Purchasing Manager is pivotal in the effective operation of construction projects, overseeing the acquisition of materials, equipment, and services vital for project completion. Responsibilities:

  • Devise and execute procurement strategies aligned with project needs, budgetary constraints, and company objectives.
  • Identify potential suppliers, assess their capabilities, negotiate terms, and establish contracts to secure optimal value.
  • Source and procure construction materials, equipment, and services in line with project specifications and quality criteria.
  • Monitor and analyze procurement expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize procurement processes while upholding quality standards.
  • Maintain precise inventory records, monitor material consumption, and forecast project requirements to ensure timely procurement and material availability.
  • Review and negotiate contract terms, including pricing, delivery schedules, and warranties, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Foster robust supplier relationships, effectively address issues, and promote collaboration to meet project needs.
  • Identify procurement-related risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement measures to minimize disruptions to project timelines and budgets.
  • Stay abreast of relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices in procurement, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, coordinate procurement activities, and facilitate effective communication to support project objectives.
  • Supervise and lead the Purchasing Team, ensuring departmental tasks are executed with quality, efficiency, and effectiveness; provide necessary information and procedural training.
  • Collaborate with Data Analysts to generate statistics and metrics for comprehensive reporting.
  • Travel and participate in meetings and conferences as necessary for business needs.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in construction procurement or purchasing management, preferably within the construction sector.
  • Proficiency in negotiation and relationship-building skills with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, capable of data analysis, trend identification, and informed decision-making.
  • Familiarity with procurement software, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and proficiency in Viewpoint preferred.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams and conveying complex information clearly and succinctly.
