Job Details

Brunel has an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor supporting our client who a large global mining company. This contractor role will be in Arizona on a rotational basis, accommodations and travel provided.

Accurately measure and assess the quantities of materials, labor, and equipment required for mining activities, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost management.

Essential Functions:

  • Measurement and Estimation: Conduct accurate and detailed quantity surveys including excavation, drilling, blasting, hauling and infrastructure development.
  • Control: Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to estimate costs, develop budgets, and monitor expenses throughout the project lifecycle. Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend appropriate strategies.
  • Allocation: Assess the quantity and quality of materials, equipment, and labor required. Ensure efficient resource allocation and utilization to meet project objectives while minimizing wastage.
  • Monitoring: Track and document progress, including quantity of work completed and actual costs incurred. Prepare progress reports and provide timely updates to project stakeholders.
  • and Claims Management: Analyze variations and claims related to quantities, costs, and scope changes. Assess their impact on project timelines and costs and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to quantity surveys, cost estimates, and project progress. Prepare comprehensive reports, including quantity takeoffs, cost breakdowns, and cost forecasts.
  • and Communication: Collaborate closely with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication, resolve issues, and facilitate smooth project execution.
  • and Safety: Adhere to all relevant regulations, standards, and safety guidelines. Identify potential risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.

Job Scope Information:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in quantity surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A relevant professional certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction and/or industry, with a strong focus on field operations.
  • to analyze complex data, identify trends, and make accurate projections. Strong problem-solving skills to address cost-related challenges.
  • verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • organizational skills to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in quantity assessments and cost calculations.
  • to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
  • in the use of personal computers in a business environment: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, is essential.
