**Primary Function:**
Procures materials and services for MP Biomedicals by verifying requirements and converting purchase requisitions into purchase orders. Negotiates terms and conditions to extract value for the company.
**Principal Duties & Responsibilities:**
* Prepares purchase orders by converting purchase requisitions or entering directly into EPR system, verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; collaborates with requisitioning department to procure items meeting user needs at lowest total cost.
* Verifies purchase requisitions, clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
* Sources materials from approved supplier list.
* Monitors and expedites items as needed. De-expedites as needed to maintain inventory turnover.
* Maintains purchasing files and data in the ERP system and other programs.
* Works with suppliers to resolve disputes, problems and rejections.
* Manages disposition and returns of rejected material.
* Other duties as assigned or evolve.
* Maintain and configure MRP configurations to drive improvement on supply chain.
**Preferred Education & Experience:**
* 4-year Bachelor Degree (or equivalent in education and experience) in Supply Chain Management or a science related field such as Chemistry and Biology.
* Three to five years of purchasing experience required. Experience in the life sciences industry strongly preferred. For Chemical category. purchasing strongly prefer 3 years chemical purchasing experience.
* Two years purchasing experience in an integrated ERP environment.
* Must be able to work independently and as a team in a fast- paced environment.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills across many levels of the organization.
* Effective negotiation skills
