The Senior Buyer oversees all aspects of Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Development, Supplier Contract Governance and Spending activities for our operations. The role willcollaborate with internal stakeholders, such as the supply chain team, finance department, and production teams, to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods and services. This role requires strong analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and market knowledge to achieve optimal results.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services necessary for our operations;
Identify potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, Supplier Agreements and maintain relationships to secure the best terms and pricing;
This role requires strong negotiation skills, vendor management capabilities, and a strategic approach to procurement to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely delivery of materials;
Maintain appropriate stocking levels for production components by planning and overseeing inventory management processes;
Qualifies suppliers through Supplier Quality audits and continuously reviews suppliers' performance. Performs on-site supplier surveys. Responsible for issuing survey results and team recommendations;
Develop and maintain robust risk mitigation plans and escalation protocols to address any issues that may arise;
Develops excellent working relationships with both internal and external customers as well as suppliers;
Maintains supplier relationships in order to drive cost reductions while continually achieving the highest level of quality material;
Reviews, analyzes and interprets various reports for spend analysis. Compiles and analyzes trends in prices and supply materials and services;
Participates in process optimization projects for procurement processes and uses available tools as benchmarks. Evaluates manufacturing methods;
Issues purchase orders, changes and expedites based on MRP and Misc. requisitions. Maintains consistent and accurate price, stock and consumption records;
Evaluates and assesses risk management for existing key suppliers and develop and select new suppliers;
Schedules delivery of materials, selects carrier routes, prepares necessary shipping documents, handles claims for lost or damaged goods and material returned to supplier.
Qualifications:
BS/BA in Bus Admin or major in related curriculum (or 6 years' work experience); plus 5 years' experience in purchasing;
Experience in a Procurement department in a commercial or capital equipment environment;
Experience in SAP business system/MRP environment strongly preferred;
CPM, APICS or ISM certifications a plus. Project management experience;
Solid skills in Microsoft Office applications;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions;
Sound understanding of the theories and application of MRP II, JIT, TQC, and Value Engineering;
Ability to read engineering blueprints or any relevant technical documents;
Working understanding of assigned commodities;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers;
Proven track record of successful supplier management, negotiation and contract management;
Excellent negotiation, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
Must be U.S. Citizen or green card holder.
