Child Care Program Information

Parents / Caretakers Child care assistance is available to families during hours of employment and/or training. Eligibility is based on the family's monthly gross income and family size. Co-payments are determined according to income and family size. Costs above the family's co-payments are paid by Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Child care services are available 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift. Parents choose who will be caring for their child. Options include a licensed child care center or a licensed child care provider.

**Eligibility**

Eligibility is based on income, family size and participation in a qualifying activity. A qualifying activity includes employment and training. An application will need to be completed and verification will need to be provided.

**Applications**

Applications can be obtained at the front desk of the Shelby County Department of Job and Family Services. Applications can also be obtained by calling 937-###-####, select option 5, then option 5, and then option 1 to request an application via mail. The application is also available online at:

Step Up to Quality is a rating system developed by Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Ohio Department of Education to improve the quality of early care and education programs in Ohio. **ODJFS Child Care Time, Attendance and

Payment (TAP) System**

Parents/Caretakers of children who are eligible for publicly funded child care will use the TAP system to record their childs attendance. The caretaker or a person eligible to pick up or drop off children at a provider will use a tablet or their smart phone to record the childrens attendance.
