Payroll Specialist


Job Details

1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Process biweekly payroll, performing necessary clerical, and payroll functions needed to complete task.

2. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

Set up hourly new hires in Paycor.

Set up temporary employees in Time on Demand. (back up)

Assign and maintain schedules for all hourly employees.

Audit department time sheets daily. E-mail Group Leaders/Managers with time issues.

Process timesheet corrections in time clock database.

Review Daily Attendance Sheets for potential pay related issues.

Verify Leave Requests are being processed by Group Leaders/Managers in a timely manner.

Verify approved vacation days in system are applied to the correct date and pay period.

Entering payroll deductions for uniforms, garnishments, child supports, and 401K unto payroll system.

Enter employee direct deposit forms into payroll database.

Transfer time clock data to payroll system biweekly for processing.

Run/save final reports. (back up)

Transmit payroll to Paycor. (back up)

Assist all departments with payroll related inquires.

Respond to requests from external agencies on matters relating to payroll.

As necessary, calculate manual checks.

Maintain payroll files and box files for storage.

Backup for payroll orientation when supervisor is unavailable.

Verify all payroll documents have required signatures prior to submission for processing.

Perform related duties as required.



3. QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma.

Associates degree or equivalent experience.

Previous Payroll experience.

Data entry and good record keeping techniques.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft business applications (Word and Excel)

Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.

Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet strict deadlines.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information received.

4. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employee must have the ability to:

See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids.

Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone.

Speak so that the others may understand at normal levels and on the telephone.

Enter data into a computer terminal/typewriter, operate standard office equipment and use a telephone.



5. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Work indoors, in a standard office environment.

Safety glasses, steel toe shoes, & hat are required at all times on the plant floor.

Exposed to heat at times during summer months on plant floor.

Upper noise levels requiring hearing protection on plant floor.
