Shipping Supervisor

Position Summary

An experienced shipping/receiving professional and working supervisor who directs all functions and tasks throughout the department. This includes processing and preparing small package/parcel shipments and LTL shipments both nationally and internationally, inventory management and providing production areas with materials and components for manufacturing.


Hours: Monday thru Friday; 1st shift (45-50 hours per week)

Compensation: $32-35.00 per hour (overtime pay after 40 hours)


Qualifications (Expertise in Discipline)

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education preferable

5+ years of experience shipping/receiving with lead responsibilities

Strong computer skills in MS Office; shipping software experience a plus

Knowledge of international shipping is very helpful

Certified forklift driver


Essential Job Functions (Job-Specific Knowledge/Skills)

Train and assist employees on the basis of job-knowledge and productivity.

Responsible for the preparation of domestic and foreign shipments in accordance with shipping requirements and specifications.

Check shipments for correct materials, packing and crating, tagging and handling instructions, loading and/or bracing.

Prepare bills of lading and other required forms.

Route local shipments and communicate with carriers.

Prepare small orders for freight, express or parcel shipments in accordance with shipping practices and requirements.

Receive all incoming materials, supplies, equipment and returned goods, check received goods against purchase orders or receiving papers.

Check quantity and part numbers against PO to properly identify materials.

Operate forklift and assist with loading and unloading trucks
