job summary:
A Procurement Specialist is needed for one of the world's largest suppliers of aerospace and defense products in the Lenexa, KS area. The role entails managing MRP messages, purchasing materials, and overseeing supplier performance while collaborating cross-functionally to optimize procurement processes and ensure adherence to quality standards and delivery timelines in a manufacturing environment.

responsibilities:

  • Responsible for handling all associated parts assigned MRP messages including buy, expedite, defer, and cancel.

  • Owns the performance of assigned suppliers, particularly in delivery, cost, and capacity/recovery to MRP health.

  • Purchases materials, parts, supplies, and equipment following established policies and procedures.

  • Drives optimization of price, delivery, and terms, typically managing purchases of $3-5 million per year.

  • Becomes involved in the development of products at suppliers, particularly for build-to-print items or items with complex designs.

  • Ensures BSP is updated for assigned suppliers and parts, striving towards a 100% goal for BSP usage.

  • Reviews and issues purchase requisitions, following up and expediting as necessary.
Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with JDE MRP/ERP systems.

  • Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM) structure.

  • Ability to read technical drawings and identify material call-outs.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Desired Skills:

  • Experience in Aerospace procurement.

  • Understanding of and participation in AS9100 Quality Requirements.
Education and Experience:

  • 4 year Bachelor's preferred (in Business or Supply Chain preferred): in lieu of degree at least 9 years of relevant experience.

  • At least 3 years of supply chain experience.
