POSITION TITLE: Food Service Assistant
SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Director of Culinary Services
STATUS: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
Assist Director and cook on staff during work schedule and provides full-scope, hands-on production of providing cleaning and food service assistance in the Community. Responsible for maintaining a high level of quality service and cleanliness.
Essential Job Functions:
- Exemplify at all times the Community standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and operational organization.
- Ability to perform dishwasher responsibilities consist of some or all of the following:
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
- Wash and sort soiled dishes
- Set and organize dish stations including dish machines and sinks
- Ensure floors are clean and dry
- Ensure sanitation of all food dispensaries
- Show ability to maintain logs, test, and document multiple types of sanitizing solutions.
- Ability to assist when directed in properly labeling all open and unopen food containers.
- Knowledge in all areas of sanitation of kitchen appliances, equipment, cutlery, and cookware.
- Ability to assist cook and Director with any duties pertaining to kitchen support, serving, and meal prep as needed basis.
- Ability to help identify and communicate food service quality, quantity, temperature, and appearance to promote improved food service to residents.

Education Required: - High school diploma or the equivalent education, training and experience.
Years of Experience: - Minimum of one (1) year of restaurant/senior living or equivalent cooking experience.
Knowledge/Skills: - Support with food preparation, production, food delivery systems, and utility
- Knowledge in all area of local Health Department, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Good communication skills (oral and written)
- Good inter-departmental communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge preparation and line production communication to other line/prep/dish person/management staff.
- Must hold current state required sanitation (Safe Food Handling) certification/license.

- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
- The worker is subject to extreme heat, hazards and other environmental conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation (oven cleaners).
