**Position Summary:**
* Purchase a wide variety of materials, supplies, services and equipment for various departments. Assure on time delivery of quality products and services at the lowest possible price.
**Essential duties and responsibilities which must be performed in order to carry out the position purpose summarized above**:
* Conducts research on departmental needs, identify sources, evaluate vendors, and negotiate pricing and delivery of products and services.
* Reviews and develops specifications. Compares quotes with specifications and availability of items.
* Solicits and analyzes quotations. Prepares and analyzes competitive formal bids and requests for proposal.
* Interprets and evaluates contract provisions.
* Negotiates blanket orders for goods and services: reviews on a quarterly basis.
* Prepares and maintains accurate records and documentation on all purchases, quotations, correspondence, and related follow up.
* Reviews orders for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with existing policies and procedures.
* Resolves accounting and pricing conflicts; monitors invoicing for accuracy.
* Resolves conflicts between suppliers and Republic.
* Assists commodity managers with corporate purchasing activities.
* Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement including lower costs, decreased turnaround times, streamlined processes and quality service.
**Job Requirements**
**Specific knowledge, training, or skills required to perform the duties of this position. Specific concepts, courses, training programs or required certifications:**
* B.S. in business administration or related field of study supply chain, operations management, procurement.
* Previous experience (co-op or internship accepted) in purchasing a variety of commodities/services. Experience and education can be substituted to meet requirements.
* General knowledge of business methods, markets, and purchasing practices.
* Ability to read and interpret documents (price lists, catalogs, requisitions, quotes, invoices, procedures, regulations)
* Demonstrated skills in oral and written communications. Ability to write routine reports, specifications and correspondence.
* Demonstrated skills in negotiating.
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts (discounts, interest, percentages).
* Computer skills: Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, word processing, data administration and retrieval; email and internet.
* Interpersonal skills: ability to establish effective working relationships internally and externally.
**Essential Physical Demands and Working Environment:**
* Ability to see, communicate, hear and utilize electronic communication devices.
* Office work environment; incumbent occasionally subject to plant working conditions (hazardous, subject to weather and temperature extremes).
**Previous experience that is necessary background to qualify for this position:**
* 1 - 3 years experience / education in supply chain / operations management with demonstrated skills in purchasing and negotiations.
