Senior Graphic/Environmental Designer Role Description

We are looking for a creative Senior Designer to join our team. In this role you will work with some of the biggest companies in San Diego that are quite literally changing the landscape of our community. You will work closely with our partners and clients on original sign concepts that will continually challenge your creativity and problem solving skills. Our partners and clients depend on us to design and create the extensions of their companies and brands signs that are represented throughout the various business parks and communities of San Diego.

Skills and Qualifications

• Degree in design, industrial design, drafting, or qualifying work experience
• 5+ years of professional design experience with proven success.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator required (Pen Tool proficiency, typography and text layout, size and scale, color theory, file types and their uses)
• Ability to quickly and accurately set up art for production
• Experience working with scale factors
• Hands on experience with vinyl plotter or similar production method a plus
• Knowledgeable and experience with environmental design and fabrication is ideal. Experience in commercial sign design, production, municipal code requirements, and installation is a plus.
• Effective communicator capable of conducting professional video conferences, phone meetings, while providing various written correspondence and emails as needed internally or with clients
• You must be able create, produce and lead effective presentations to share your design concepts and ideas with client and partner stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Creates unique designs, manages proofing and the development of production art, while gathering input from clients throughout the entire process.
• Obtain knowledge of code compliance, local permitting practices, and possess the ability to plan comprehensive sign programs for large projects for the new construction or for existing commercial buildings.
• Helps provide direction, input, and support on the design and concepts from other team members as needed.
• Works with leadership to ensure that file management, and artwork structure are organized, properly maintained and updated, and accessible when needed.
• Leverages the capabilities and strengths of the production team in order to provide cost effective solutions while ensuring the quality of each finished product
• Performs site walkthroughs or surveys with clients to ensure all details are captured and that both parties have clarity regarding project scope
• Adhere to best practices and usage guidelines for all internal systems for reporting and documenting throughout the various stages of all active projects
