EPC is headquartered in Poway, CA, a community in Northern San Diego County, with additional manufacturing facilities in Greenville, SC and additional design offices in Helsinki, Finland and Eastern USA.

The Role:

The Component Engineer will use their knowledge of electrical/mechanical engineering to properly assess component reliability. The Component Engineer will need to be able to identify suitable alternate parts for key material components including interfacing with vendors and staying informed of market conditions. The Component Engineer shall also interface with internal supply chain stakeholders to ensure that engineering needs are responding to market forces appropriately.


Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible to conduct failure analysis on all components from microelectronics to main power circuit components including non-electrical parts such as mechanical assemblies
  • Collaborate with suppliers and Engineering team to author Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis and Design Verification Plan and Reports
  • Responsible for handling engineering component obsolescence including: monitoring PCN activity, developing a procedure for parts obsolescence, and analyzing products for obsolescence and providing mitigation solutions
  • Proficient with CAD tools
  • Participate in and lead cost reduction initiatives
  • Familiarity with and daily use of PLM (product lifecycle management) and ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems as pertains to component engineering tasks
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft tools including mid-advanced use of Excel
  • Knowledge of component obsolescence, mitigation, and procurement (vendors, distributors, brokers, etc.)
  • Communicate clearly and work with various personnel across the company on a regular basis, including engineers, data management staff, manufacturing and operations, procurement, and others
  • Provide statistical analysis to support to manufacturing and testing
  • Assist design engineers with component selection
  • Familiarity with UL/IEC standards
  • Familiarity with product and component EOL


Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor s degree in electrical engineering and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience
  • Preferred Six Sigma Green Belt or higher


Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience with CAD tools
  • 5+ years of experience with ERP software, preferably SAP
  • 5+ years of experience with PLM software, preferably Windchill
  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Office Excel and/or Google Sheets

Salary: 100,000 - 140,000
