Engineering Partner's Incorporated (EPI) is a family owned company that has extensive experience in the civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines in the San Diego area since 1985. Our 80+ employee team is split up into several departments and they work on a variety of jobs including electrical design build projects for the military, architectural engineering, lighting projects, and utility engineering services.


About the Role:

EPI is seeking individuals to perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) design review for overhead electrical distribution designs. Our focus is supporting various California electric utilities to reduce the chance of utility caused wildfires and public safety power shutoffs as well as increase the reliability and performance of the electrical grid.

The applicant would be joining the Overhead Constructability Review Team in EPI's Electric System Hardening department.

This job is entirely computer based though it may have infrequent opportunities to perform field visits if the applicant is interested in joining.

This role mainly reviews documents related to the construction, materials and design of a project. Our goal is to find any inconsistencies, errors, deviations from utility or California Public Utility Commission standards, difficulties to construct, or design decisions that negatively affect other stakeholders (Environmental, Land, Caltrans etc). After identifying those issues, we then provide detailed comments back to the engineer and designer to attempt to improve the areas in question.

  • Construction Plans
  • Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Fusing Request Form
  • Voltage Drop and Flicker Calculations (VDFL)

  • Able to see the big picture of how processes fit together.
  • Love to ask questions and to try to understand a situation.
  • Strong communication skills to communicate with various groups.
  • Ability to work independently and with the team.
  • Computer literate.



Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Preferred) or Bachelor s Degree in a STEM Discipline


Compensation & Benefits:

The expected salary range for the position is $30-$40/hr. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
