Our client is the leading intermodal drayage company located in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. They were established in 2006 and have grown to power 40 trucks servicing both the Chicagoland area and Midwest Region. They pride themselves in hauling overweight intermodal containers for their customers each and every day. They move close to 15,000 containers per year and do everything they can to save their customers additional overweight costs.

Intermodal Sales Representative

Our client is seeking a driven and experienced Intermodal Sales Representative to grow and expand the reach of the company s brand and services. This individual will be responsible for finding and securing new business opportunities, as well as maximizing client relationships and providing individualized transportation solutions to fit customer needs. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has 2+ years prior experience in a similar role, and possesses a transferrable Book of Business as it pertains to Intermodal Freight Services.

Responsibilities

  • Source for new customers nationwide, prospect leads, and manage the sales process to secure new business opportunities in the intermodal space.
  • Utilize networking and negotiation skills to establish strong professional relationships with new customers.
  • Manage existing customer base by building rapport and offering customized business solutions to foster sustainable, trusting business relationships.
  • Consult with customers to upsell them on new, innovative ideas and business solutions that drive the company s profitability.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers and exhibit excellent and constant communication by email, phone, and/or face-to-face visits.
  • Provide exceptional service by responding to customer inquiries and requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain a high-volume sales pipeline to consistently meet and exceed assigned targets:
    • 50-100 containers moved in the first month
    • Month 2 and beyond: 300 containers/month
  • Skillfully navigate client questions and concerns, and escalate to management where appropriate.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and company service offerings.
Experience

  • 2+ years of related industry sales experience focused on intermodal freight services.
  • Possesses an established industry network and a transferrable (and applicable) Book of Business.
  • Highly motivated individual who can hit the ground running to meet and exceed sales goals.
  • Expertise in all aspects of the sales process including sourcing, prospecting, and negotiation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and articulate communication skills - oral, written, and over the phone.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote work environment.

This position offers a competitive base salary + commission potential.
