**SCOPE OF POSITION:**

The Store Clerk is responsible for handling cash, making change, operating cash register and charge card machines while maintaining accuracy. When not attending to cashier responsibilities, time will be spent in the warehouse separating and sorting all donated material, pricing inventory and restocking merchandise as required and directed.

**MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:**

* High school diploma or equivalency.

* Some knowledge of inventory control, retail sales, and loss prevention

* Ability to operate cash register, credit card machines and handle monetary transactions.

* Skill in maintaining excellent customer service by giving prompt and courteous assistance to customers.

* Acceptable criminal history record.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**

* Maintains cash register, ringing in sales, issuing credit slips, and making corrections and/or voice. Accepts money, makes change, and verifies credit cards accurately and efficiently.

* Assists with counting daily cash deposit and safeguards cash at all times. May prepare a daily store report for store management.

* Responds professionally to telephone inquiries and routes calls as necessary.

* Receives and assists in resolving complaints from customers regarding merchandise.

* Provides for excellent customer relations by giving prompt and courteous assistance to customers, ensuring all merchandise has been properly priced.

* Attends Family Store staff meetings as required and stays informed of new policies and directives.

* Assists with the loss prevention program, reporting all accidents and incidents of loss to the store management in a timely manner

* Reports safety hazards; assists in the protection of property and buildings and helps to ensure store cleanliness inside and out.

* Works in the warehouse to sort and price items.

* Restocks store inventory as directed.

* Maintains strict confidentiality of clients and other program related information.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

* Courteously assists donors in the removal of all donated items from the donors vehicle and provide receipt as requested.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

Speaking, sitting, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, handling, climbing, and balancing. Hearing and visual acuity must be within normal limits. Lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds

**ENVIRONMENT**

Work is performed in a heated and ventilated store setting. Noise level is low. Brief exposure to cold and inclement weather when managing the receipt of donations.
