The Business Development Representative is responsible for initial outreach and business development for the entire Generac Industrial suite of products. Prospecting, planning, coordinating, and executing all sales related activities within Texas covering end use customers and verticals including healthcare, critical infrastructure, municipal and others as assigned. This individual is responsible for achieving market penetration growth of specified Generac Product's to existing customers and distribution while delivering on our brand promise every day. The Sales Development Representative promotes and communicates the features and benefits of the product offering through sales arguments, product demonstrations, competitive comparisons in the market, and value-added energy market-based programs and services.

The Business Development Representative's primary distribution focus is: Mid-size regional targeted end users that support community safety, health, and wellness within Texas. This involves activities ranging from developing a thorough understanding of the current market landscape and prevailing business models, calling on prospect customers at all levels of the client organization (C-level, Procurement, Field Service, etc.), assessing their needs and associated challenges to meet them. Excellent cooperation, communication, and support with the entire Generac sales team are required to be successful in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Grow market share across the assigned territory by building meaningful relationships, promoting products, and driving revenue.
  • Implement the overall sales strategy aligned to meet or exceed budgeted sales performance targets, derived from the annual corporate strategic plan.
  • Plans, conducts, and coordinates technical sales training sessions and product demonstrations on existing and new products for partners and customers.
  • Gain deep understanding of regional market, business and competitive activity, market penetration and channel coverage.
  • Identify potential new customers, channels and partnering opportunities and proactively prospect appropriate internal decision makers.
  • Execute New Account Setup process with inside team and New Account personnel (customer)
  • Makes recommendations for product alterations and new developments based on understanding of current industry and market trends and competitors.
  • Manage and maintain a CRM database for assigned territory.
  • Prepares and submits, Pipeline report / CRM, monthly reports, action plan updates, Updates Salesforce opportunities / quotes, Salesforce analysis and other sales-oriented documents as requested.


Minimal Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Texas Based

2 Years sales related experience

Ability to travel up to 25%, including some travel overnight

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in energy markets, demand response, energy equipment, or software sales

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Demonstrates efficiency with MS Office Suite products

Strong organizational and time management skills

Strong problem solving and negotiation skills across the pricing spectrum

Excellent written and verbal communication skills across multiple audiences including top management, technical product specifiers and asset managers.

Demonstrates consultative selling techniques

Strong initiative and ability to tackle designated territory and grow the sales pipeline funnel

Ability to travel and work nonstandard hours

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting; close vision and ability to adjust focus. Up to 25% travel and valid driver's license required.
