Description

LAC Federal is seeking a Project Manager to oversee a small team of one Inspector responsible for all quality control of technical services for a large federal library. The Project Manager is a full time position to work on site in Washington, DC at the Library planning, monitoring, and reviewing Inspection work. The Manager will provide training, quality control, oversight, and reporting on staff work.

Candidates must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.


Responsibilities:

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

  • Train, supervise and monitor staff work for quality, productivity and safety
  • Prepare training guides and manuals
  • Maintain detailed statistical reports
  • Analyze trends in staff work for quality and other performance issues
  • Respond to staff personnel issues
  • Maintain staff schedules
  • Meet regularly with team members and clients to facilitate communication, identify priorities, and delegate tasks


Requirements

An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.

  • Possess foreign language proficiency and the ability to use Romanization tables (preferred)
  • Possess the ability to address performance and personnel issues
  • Have good interpersonal skills, both written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Excel, Word, and comparable office automation products to produce detailed statistical reports
  • Knowledge of and experience with Library of Congress Classification schedule
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour-per-week schedule on site in downtown Washington, DC

The Project Manager shall have graduated from an accredited library school and been awarded a master's degree in library and information science (MLS). The Project Manager shall have at least two years work experience in a law library: (1) having demonstrated the ability to review completed work for quality control; (2) having demonstrated working knowledge of processing legal materials in various languages; (3) having demonstrated experience or understanding of cataloging procedures for legal monographs or serials; and (4) having demonstrated experience using and inputting data into a library ILS.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to 30 pounds such as files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
