Role Overview:
The Senior Oncology Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a pivotal medical expert within the Medical Affairs Organization, engaging in reciprocal scientific exchange. In this role, you will play a vital part in amplifying the understanding of the scientific and medical value of oncology/hematology products (both marketed and in the pipeline) among Thought Leaders (TL) and Healthcare Providers (HCP), ultimately advancing patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate profound scientific expertise in Oncology/Hematology portfolio and therapeutic areas, fostering relevant information exchange with thought leaders.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with a targeted group of regional thought leaders, ensuring awareness of evolving healthcare trends within the therapeutic landscape.
- Responsibly address both on-label and off-label inquiries with integrity and compliance, adhering strictly to legal, regulatory, and guidelines.
- Represent and the US Medical Affairs Team at scientific conferences, educational events, and medical meetings.
- Collect data and derive scientific insights from stakeholder interactions, providing valuable feedback to internal stakeholders through appropriate channels.
- Identify and capture scientific insights that deepen our understanding of thought leaders , healthcare providers , and patients needs, facilitating their integration into internal strategies.
- Assist in responding to unsolicited requests concerning interest in investigator-sponsored studies (ISS) and support ISS submissions through internal processes.
- Contribute to Company Sponsored Studies (CSS) from Phase I-IV, including site identification and initiation visits, optimizing site selection and performance.
- Address unsolicited requests for medical information related to and disease areas.
- Provide training and support to speakers on product portfolio.
- Foster collaborative relationships across internal stakeholders, ensuring full compliance with company, industry, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Efficiently manage workload to execute local medical plan strategies within specified timelines.
- Contribute to committees or project teams supporting MSL strategies and tactics as delegated by MSL leadership.
- Engage in continuous independent learning within the therapeutic area, participating actively in upskilling programs related to molecules, products, disease states, and pertinent business topics.
Qualifications:
Education / Certifications:
- Doctoral-level degree in the sciences required (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, DPT, Nursing, or equivalent).
Experience:
- 7-8 years of related work experience.
- Preferred minimum of 2 years of Oncology MSL experience.
- Previous involvement in product launches and life cycle management is advantageous.
Key Technical Competencies Required:
- Exceptional planning, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain credible scientific relationships with top experts.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and adeptness in cross-functional collaboration.
- Proficiency in synthesizing and conveying medical information clearly.
- Familiarity with PhRMA, OIG, and other guidelines pertaining to compliant medical communications.
- Comprehensive understanding of oncology/hematology customer segments and market dynamics.
- Proven capability in discussing scientific content to diverse audiences.
- Fundamental grasp of clinical research principles.
- Strong project management abilities.
- Thorough knowledge of regulatory environments.
- Effective leadership and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel (50-70%) based on geographic requirements.
