This Senior/Executive Director position is based in Cambridge, MA, reporting to the VP of CNS Discovery. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in advancing groundbreaking modalities for the treatment of CNS diseases.


Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead in developing BBB-crossing treatments to provide high-value programs in line with Simcere's portfolio strategy.
  • Make strategic and quality decisions for the programs in alignment with Simcere s management teams.
  • Be responsible for crafting an innovative product profile and guiding decision-making by formulating outcome scenarios at critical data inflection points.
  • Hold accountability for assembling and maintaining a motivated and high-performing program team, ensuring team members meet their expectations.
  • Provide relevant input into other portfolio project teams when needed.
  • Establish and cultivate cross-functional relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight to collaborative programs and maintain strong relationships with investigators and key opinion leaders (KOLs) in the field, both nationally and internationally.


Requirements

  • PhD, MD or MD/PhD in neuroscience or related fields, with 8+ years of experience in blood-brain barrier (BBB) biology
  • Must have experience in leading a group to study the delivery of large molecules across the BBB in industrial or academic settings
  • Strong knowledge of preclinical and translational research, as well as early clinical development, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, along with prior experience in leading organizations and guiding individuals through transformative changes
  • Demonstrated success in building teams, leading and influencing experienced professionals and executives
  • Ability to think critically, creatively and to anticipate and solve problems
