The Labor and Delivery Unit at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse Fellow (experienced RN interested in changing specialty to L&D). Our next Fellowship will be starting in August 2024.

Schedule: full-time, night shift 3x 12 shifts per week, 7:00pm to 7:00am

Sign-On/Relocation Bonus Information: This position is eligible for a competitive Sign-On Bonus. Candidates who are relocating 50 miles or further are also eligible for relocation assistance.

Fair Oaks Hospital: The Labor and Delivery unit at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital located in Fairfax, Virginia has recently undergone a beautiful renovation. Our unit consists of thirteen private labor and delivery rooms, an eight-bed triage/PACU area, and three operating rooms. The types of patients range from low risk deliveries to high-risk patients with pre-existing multisystem medical and obstetrical problems. The usual staffing assignment consists of 1 RN for 2 laboring patients and change to 1 nurse to 1 patient based on acuity and phase of labor. The Inova RN Fellow:

The RN Fellowship program will develop the necessary clinical skills to practice nursing in a competent manner within a specified service line. The RN Fellow, in an atmosphere of acceptance and support, will learn under the direct supervision of an experienced RN and through various other training formats.
The RN Fellow participates in learning new knowledge, developing new skills, and meeting program objectives to be able to practice in assigned patient care delivery setting utilizing and applying new knowledge. The RN Fellow will be given time to learn, opportunities to practice, and mentoring to imbed the newly learned skills and knowledge.
Communicates effectively with patients and families, team members and medical providers. Creates a collaborative team working environment. Has respect for and understanding of clinical disciplines. Uses a focused, integrated approach toward improving patient outcomes and the patient experience of care delivery.

Requirements:

Required Experience: A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.

General Requirements:

Proficient in English, strong verbal, and written communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others
Values team collaboration
Proficient computer skills required

Minimum Education Requirement: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 24 months of start date.

Minimum Licensure/ Certification Requirement:

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start
