GovCIO is currently hiring for a Technical Writer to support the Department of Homeland Security. This position will be fully remote.ResponsibilitiesGCIO is seeking a candidate for the position of Technical Writer / Communication Specialist to support a contract for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The Technical Writer will be responsible for development of multiple project-level communications artifacts, including stakeholder reports, SOPs, emails, and meeting minutes. The candidate will also assist in the development of strategies to obtain, organize, and disseminate information to project team members and key stakeholders through clear and effective communication channels.ResponsibilitiesAbility to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detailAbility to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures and translate them into process documentationStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Basic familiarity with the SDLC and software developmentResearch, write, edit and proofread complex technical dataCreate, maintain and update manuals, procedures, specifications and other documentsEvaluate and recommend revisions to standards and guideline'sProvide writing, editing and design support to other team members Ability to review technical documentation for quality assuranceAbility to make documentation 508-compliantConduct communications gap analysis to determine strengths of current approaches and identify opportunities for improvementDevelop and maintain project-level communications processes, tools, and resources, leveraging best practices for communications across the portfolioAssist in the enhancement of current communications strategiesEnsure all communications are in support of portfolio and project objectives and are consistent across delivery channels and stakeholdersWork in partnership with the customer communications teams to ensure branding and style guidelines are maintainedLeverage communications methods to identify trends throughout the communications lifecyclePossess strong analytical skills required to proactively research information and begin compiling initial responses to ad-hoc data callsThorough ability to navigate MS PowerPoint, including shortcuts and animationsUnderstanding of information design and creative storytelling within a presentation formatProactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with a teamAbility to find, create, and build graphics, such as icons (manipulate and retouch, as needed)Experience in integrating multimedia elements using various softwareExceptional attention to detail and an eye for visual consistency and formatting, with emphasis on accuracy, speed, and qualityQualificationsRequired Skills and ExperienceEducation Requirements: Bachelor s DegreeYears of Experienced Required: 2+ US Citizenship Ability to attain DHS Suitability (active suitability is a plus)Excellent written and oral communication skillsGood decision-making and interpersonal skillsExcellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize workUnderstanding of Agile and DevOps framework (desired)Clearance Required: Suitability/Public TrustCompany OverviewGovCIO is a team of transformers--people who are passionate about transforming government IT.
