The Senior Release Manager position will be responsible for development and partner management, strategic planning, and ensuring high quality deployment of the software ecosystem powering a retail based SaaS product. This pivotal role involves close collaboration with partner teams and our offshore delivery partners. The platform is underpinned by a robust, redundant client/server architecture, comprising a suite of native iOS and Android applications seamlessly integrated with a cloud-based portal.

Job Summary

The Release Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of software products and updates leveraging the cloud. You will be responsible for coordinating the release process from development through to production, ensuring that releases are delivered on time, within budget, and with the highest level of quality. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, project managers, and stakeholders, to facilitate the planning, scheduling, and execution of releases.


Responsibilities

  • The Release Manager plays a pivotal role in spearheading and orchestrating Software delivery efforts to guarantee the smooth and dependable delivery of top-tier software products, alongside key performance metrics. Operating at the intersection of leadership and technology, this role collaborates closely with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Architects, and roadmap team to ensure alignment between product goals and technical execution.
  • The Release Manager is tasked with blending technical proficiency, leadership acumen, and strategic foresight to optimize both development and operational workflows. They serve as a linchpin, fostering collaboration across multifunctional teams to implement and uphold robust deployment practices, advocate for automated workflows, and relentlessly pursue avenues for continuous enhancement.

Release Planning and Coordination:

  • Work closely with development teams to understand release scope, timelines, and dependencies.
  • Develop release plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate release schedules and communicate timelines to stakeholders.

Release Execution:

  • Oversee the execution of release activities, including build deployments, testing, and deployment to production environments.
  • Ensure all release activities adhere to established processes and quality standards.
  • Monitor release progress and resolve issues or blockers as they arise.

Vendor Management:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors involved in the release process.
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure alignment on release objectives, requirements, and timelines.
  • Monitor vendor performance and address any issues or concerns that may impact release deliverables.

Communication and Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for release-related inquiries and updates.
  • Facilitate communication between cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on release objectives and priorities.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on release progress, including any deviations from the original plan.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Evaluate release processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement best practices and process enhancements to optimize the release management lifecycle.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the release management team and across the organization.
